LMUD Presents: This Day in Susanville History – February 2, 1971

Forty-two Boy Scouts
February 2, 1971

FORTY-TWO BOY SCOUTS from troops in Susanville, Herlong, Westwood and Chester attended the annual Boy Scout Government Day sponsored by the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office.

The boys are pictured above in front of the Sheriff’s Office before being assigned to various county, city, state and federal offices during the morning at which time the functions of the various offices were explained.

Also participating was KSUE Radio and the Sacramento Bee.

Before attending a noon luncheon at the B&B as guests of the department heads the Scouts were given a tour of the courthouse and the courthouse annex. Sheriff Ben Yeakey made a short talk at the luncheon and Undersheriff Del Gorbet served as master of ceremonies. Scouts participating were:

Troop 58, Susanville — Kevin Almon, Vance Poulsen, Bobby Dyer, Steve Lane, Mike Lowe, Kevin Drake, Leo Johnson, John Peay, Mitch Bridenstien, Paul Bates, Ken Guy, Jim Bright and Joe Andreasen.

Troop 318, Herlong — Roy Northcutt, Frank Timmins, Earl Gilbert, James Gilbert, Paul George.

Troop 59, Susanville — Dave Robb, Joe Gardner, Scott Tripp, Bob Tripp, Scott Gorbet, Pat Reno, Paul Cummings, Ted Ramey, Mike Shively, Eugene Aguirre, Chuck Walker, Stan Ruch.

Troop 77, Chester — Bruce Hasek, David Hopper, Kenny Benner, Mathew Brock, Brett Fisher, Dale Keefer, Tommy Bridgeman, Tab Miller, Michael Pettigrew. Also attending was Don Morrissey of Westwood. (Schullo photo).
