Heroism Award Granted Scout
February 7th, 1963

Charles Ramey, Boy Scout from Troop 59 of Susanville, Calif., sponsored by the Elks Lodge, recently was awarded a certificate of heroism from the National Council, Boy Scouts of America, according to Gunnar Norregaard Scout executive of the Nevada Area Council.

Scout Ramey saved his grandmother from serious injury when a fire started in the kitchen of her home.

Using the knowledge and experience gained through the Scout program he pulled his grandmother from the kitchen and controlled the fire until the fire department arrived.

The award was presented by Claude Hunter, president of the Nevada Area Council.
