Increase Granted Lassen Workers

Payrolls in Susanville area took another $25,000 jump yesterday when H. W. Bridgford, superintendent and manage of the Lassen Lumber and Box Company’s mill here announced a two and a half-cent increase for all hourly labor in the mill, which employees 300 men.
It is the second increase by the company in 30 days, the last jump in wages being announced on December 19, 1940, both being effective on the day of the announcement.
Common labor in the mill will now receive 621/2 cents an hour for a 40 hour week. This covers planning mill and box factory. In all other departments, the minimum wage will be 65 cents an hour.
The Red River Lumber Company at Westwood, was the first to announce a similar wage increase. The Fruit Growers Supply Company in Susanville followed. Some 3,500 mill employees are affected.
