Town Trustees Hold Their First Meeting

The Trustees of the town of Susanville held their first meeting in their new home Monday night of this week.
The building was formally accepted by the Board and the town Clerk instructed to pay contractors in accordance with the terms of the contract.
Walter Long the Engineer of the fire department was requested to act as Janitor of the building for the next thirty days during which time it can be determined whether or not he will be able to handle this work in addition to his present duties.
Insurance on the new building and contents was ordered placed in the amount of $35,000 with A. G. Breitwieser, Jr., and E. L. Shirley, who appeared before the board, and advised them fully as to the costs, etc., of the insurance.
It was decided that a term insurance of three years be taken which will cost in the neighborhood of $400.
The question of the revocation of licenses for those establishments which it was plain were bootleg joints was taken up and after considerable discussion to draw up an amendment to the present ordinance that will permit the Board to proceed against these places and not have to wait for the District Attorney to abate them.
After the business of the evening had been completed a flashlight photo of the new council chamber and the Board was taken by Ed Grimes of Thompson’s Studio.
