Large Attendance at Wednesday SOC Meeting
January 26, 1973

OVER 400 PEOPLE packed the Lassen High Student Center Wednesday night to hear three state legislators speak on the issue of the California Conservation Center closure via a special phone hook-up.

State senator-elect Clare Berryhill announced that members of the SOC committee and the legislators will meet with Gov. Reagan “next week” in an effort to convince him to reverse the closure decision.

The legislators and members of the SOC committee urged Lassen County citizens to write the governor, state legislators and friends throughout and about the closure decision.

A petition calling for the Center closure decision to be reviewed by the Governor was circulated at the meeting and should be turned into the county clerk’s office in the courthouse.

Funds to support SOC’s media drive are requested of all Lassen County businessmen and families. Donations may be mailed to SOC, Box 734, Susanville. (Advocate photo).
