LMUD Presents: This Day in Susanville History – January 5, 1906

Around 1906 in Susanville

Look Out Boys
January 5, 1906

It has come to our knowledge that various parties in Susanville have been feeding stray flocks of quail driven in by the storms. It seems the boy with the gun has also been informed of the fact and has made some ruthless slaughters.

Now, the boy with the gun is safe enough in undoing the work and trouble of those who desire to give the birds a chance for their lives, so as the State law is concerned, but there is one little provision that may get him into trouble.

The Town of Susanville has, by ordinance, prohibited the discharge of firearms within the corporate limits, and there’s a decided intention to see that ordinance enforced.

Don’t shoot the birds now boys; give them a chance and there’ll be all the more of them when the season comes again.

Besides, if you neglect this warning, you will be pretty sure to pay dear for your sport. Be careful.
