Turkey Growers Plan Shipments
January 7, 1941

A crew of thirty feather pluckers are busy on the Jay Gibson turkey ranch near here today, preparing the last of 1,800 fat turkeys for shipment to Buffalo, N.Y.

Gibson and partner, C. H. Haley, started last May with 7,000 Washington bred Oregon broad breasted baby turks and by the advent of the holiday season had 6,800 gobblers and hens ready for Thanksgiving and Yule tide.

Some 5,000 supplied the Reno, Susanville and Westwood markets. The balance were sold to the eastern market and will be shipped in refrigeration during the current week direct to Buffalo. The market price is none too good, according to Gibson and Haley.
