Excellent Ice Skating
January 8, 1973
During Susanville’s last cold spell – about two weeks ago – hundreds of people had the opportunity to skate on the reservoir at the end of Russell Avenue.
Through the efforts of George Farris a protective stile was built over the fence to the Fitzgerald property and a light installed above the reservoir to protect the skaters from injury at night.
Everyone who skates on the pond does so at their own risk, but the risk is minimal because of the depth of the water and the ice.
The picture above at the reservoir was taken on Sunday, Jan. 7, by George Farris.
