Mail Registration
July 30, 1977
Persons who were registered in classes for the Spring Semester and Summer Session ’77 at Lassen College will be receiving a bright and somewhat comical data sheet and registration material in the mail during the next several days as part of Lassen’s program to encourage all continuing students to save themselves, and the Registrar’s Office, a great deal of trouble by filling out all registration material ahead of the scheduled sign-up period.
The mail registration packet is printed on a blue texture paper and is illustrated with a busy little fellow who feeds a computer and directs registrants in the proper procedures. When the student receives the packet, it will contain all the information and material needed for pre-registering in the Fall, 1977, semester at Lassen College.
A catch line on the inside cover of the registration packet comically states, “We’re Plugged Into Your Circuit,” relaying the message that the Registrar’s Office and the computer facilities on campus are ready.
They have recorded all past student information on computer tapes and are waiting for current information in order to update and register people for the next semester.
Registration material being included in the packets are a Continuing Student Data Sheet, a Student Program and a Veterans Information Sheet. The student is instructed to fill out each of these, to place the completed forms in an envelope with the appropriate fees and the Student Identification Card, and to return them to the Admissions Office at Lassen College.
“What could be more simple?” asks Lassen’s Registrar Sam Sandusky. He says all instructions and fees are listed on the inside of the packet. The prospective student will receive the packet stapled, and by removing the staple without tearing the packet he or she can simply follow the instructions inside. The sheet includes telephone numbers and other information related to registering by mail.
Above, Mr. Sandusky holds up one of the new data sheets which are being sent in this week’s mail. Students are requested to return the forms to the college no later than Aug. 26, 1977. Mr. Sandusky advises those who are anticipating a return for the Fall to fill out the papers at the earliest possible time.
