Final Plans for Sidewalking Town Now Being Outlined

At a regular meeting of the trustees of the town of Susanville, held in the town hall on Tuesday evening, the sidewalk proposition was again discussed at length. The question was not definitely decided upon at the meeting, however, but was held over until a meeting that was called for the following night.
The clerk was ordered to erect the four American Legion signs on the roads leading into the city.
Wednesday evening the meeting was convened, and the sidewalk problem was again taken up. After considerable discussion and thought on the matter the city engineer was ordered to go ahead with the work in accordance with the plans as agreed upon by the board.
These plans as agreed upon include the sidewalking of the following streets as described:
Roop street from the turn near the Model Laundry to the cemetery with a four foot walk on each side.
Lassen Street from North to Court. From Main street south to the Court House five feet wide on both sides. On the north side of Main street 12 feet wide for one block and 4 feet wide for the remainder of the distance.
Plans for the curbing of the portion of Lassen street from Main north to Nevada will be made and it will be necessary for the property owners in that area to construct the curb.
Gay street north of Main five feet wide to Nevada and four feet wide from there on. On the south of Main street the work between Main and Cottage streets will be carried on in accordance with the plans formulated at the time that the previous construction was made. This comprises a curb and a fifteen foot sidewalk. From Cottage to the end of the street it will be four feet wide.
Union street will have five foot walks constructed on either side of Main street for one block and the remainder will be four foot.
Weatherlow street north of Main street will be sidewalked to North with a four foot walk on each side of the street.
It is hoped to start the work about August 1st and the present plan should see it completed before October 1st.
