Old time Fourth is Assured

SUSANVILLE CELEBRATION WILL OFFER ALL ATTRACTIONS UNDER AUSPICES OF BALL CLUB, LEGION AND FAIR ASSOCIATIONS.
The plans for Susanville’s celebration of the Fourth are now pretty well outlined and the attractions will include all the old-time favorites and a few new wrinkles.
There will be two days of racing under the direction of the Lassen County Fair association. Seven races will be run each day and half of the gate receipts up to $3,000 will be divided as purses between the winners. The racing days will be July 4 and 5.
One of the big attractions of the celebration will be a series of ball games between the team of the Lassen Lumber and Box company and the team of the Battleship California.
The series will consist of three games, the first on the second and the last one on the Fourth. The games on the second and third will be called at 2:30 in the afternoon and the last one at 10:30 on the morning of the Fourth at the conclusion of the patriotic features of the celebration.
The American Legion will have charge of the night shows and street concessions. These concessions will be of the usual character and in addition there will be several shows with local talent on the boards.
The band of the Fruit Growers Supply company will give several public concerts during the celebration and furnish music for many of the events.
