Susanville Stage to Reach Sacramento Today

THE SUSANVILLE STAGE, which left Roop’s Fort in Susanville last Friday morning en route to the state capitol in Sacramento, is scheduled to arrive there this afternoon where the Susanville incorporation papers will be handed to the Secretary of State in a reenactment of a similar ceremony when the city was incorporated in 1900.
Members of the Lassen County Sheriff’s Posse, who escorted the stage when it left Susanville last Friday morning, will be on hand to accompany the stage on its route down 12th Street in Sacramento.
Posse members who participate in the start of the journey last Friday and will be on hand at the completion today were Sheriff Del Gorbet and Keith James, riding ahead of the stage as it headed out on Highway 36 enroute to Westwood last Friday, and John Luond, Bill Black, Robert Amesbury and Alva Bennett, riding at the rear of the stage.
Riding into Sacramento on the stage will be Susanville Mayor Dan Sanchez, Diamond Jubilee Chairman Robert Elliott, Lassen County Chamber of Commerce Manager Dan Mitchell, Lassen County Junior Rodeo Queen Nancy Miller and the stage driver, Tex Palmer, from Fallon, Nev. (Schullo photo)
