Police Chief Fred Bradbury disclosed 18 teenagers accused of automobile theft and burglaries and pilfering have been arrested in a week long series of arrests in a crackdown on juvenile crime.

The police said nine are accused of the burglary of a beer warehouse a year ago, four of car theft, four of pilfering and one of looting a school. The officers denied the 18 were organized as one gang.

The youths range in age from 13 to 17.

The series of arrest started Saturday night when the officers picked up four youths in a stolen vehicle. They were to appear today in the judicial district court for certification to the juvenile authorities. Bradbury said it was their first offense.
