Riot Guns and Rifle Ordered for Sheriff’s Office
March 31, 1926
The sheriff’s office evidently is planning an offensive. At the regular monthly meeting of the board of supervisors held this week, George Carter appeared and requested a riot gun and rifle for his office.
The supervisors evidently believe in giving him plenty, so they ordered that two riot guns and one rifle be purchased.
It was suggested by the supervisors that the purchasing agent get all the information he can, also cost, of a bullet-proof windshield. Nothing was said about fortifications for the rear end.
At the meeting of the board this week it was ordered that Lassen County appropriate $1,000 for the improvement and maintenance of the Pittville road, by way of Poison Lake. The forest service will add $2,000 to this amount.
