New Richfield Service Station
May 14, 1939


Construction on a modern Richfield service station, to be situated on the corner of Hall and Main streets, in Milwood section of Susanville was started last week with the ground survey and the foundation for the building now laid.

Resident manager of Richfield product in Susanville, Kenneth Doyle is supervising the construction which is under contract to Shirley Beaver, local contractor.

Coffer and Kilburn are doing the electrical work, Chick Hersey is installing the plumbing and Baker McQueen is pouring the concrete for the foundation.

Outside of beams and the foundation Doyle announces that all other construction will be completely of wood.

The station is expected to reach completion shortly after June 1st.

A three-pump unit will be installed to handled gasoline sales, one for Richfield’s new Hi-Octane, regular grade and Flash gas. Besides this, there will be a wash and grease rack installed in connection with the station.

A full line of tires and other automobile accessories will be carried in the new station. Easily accessibly driveways to the corner lot will be constructed to ensure patrons every facility in visiting the station.
