Musical Production Pleases Local Audiences
November 13, 1980

ROLLING THUNDER – The threat of “painful persuasion” evoked an understandable reaction from Helenus (Jim Beterbide) when he was confronted by the knife wielding Agamemnon (Jim Rainbow), left, during weekend performances of “A Vision of Rolling Thunder.”

The musical, written by Beterbide and set to music by area music instructor Dennis Roberts, played to about 300 area residents at the Lassen High School Little Theater.

The story followed the plight of the Trojan women after their city was sacked and their men were killed by Greek conquerors. The play featured a cast of two dozen locals.

Beterbide said he was “very pleased” with audience response to the performances. He said the group “met expenses” from ticket sales and will donate extra money to the Lassen County Performing Arts Center Committee.

That group is working toward raising funds to build a community theater on the Lassen College campus.
