Susanville Bus Upsets
30 Escape Serious Injury
November 14, 1945

Twenty-eight high school pupils and two adults narrowly escaped serious injury when one of Clyde Deal’s school buses, bound for the high school, rolled over twice Friday morning on the road north of Lake Leavitt.

David W. Leavans driver of the bus, was headed to overtake a truck driven by Alfred Lound of Standish, and in so doing the bus went into the lleft-handditch. In trying to bring it back onto the road, the vehicle skidded and rolled.

Mildred Zangger of Standish was the most severely injured, suffering cuts about the head and face. She is still in the hospital.

Keith Von Staden has his ankle sprained, and slight cuts were received by A. D. Kinsey, high school agriculture teacher, Eddie Zangger, Ora Lee Grant, Jim Fraley, Kay Chadwick, Joyce, Ardene and Mary Jane Tanner.

The accident is being investigated by the local office of the Highway Patrol.
