Club Plans Arena

A new club has been formed on the Lassen College campus whose members are seeking community support in their efforts to construct an arena below the agriculture farm, at the east end of the campus.
The 22-member Lassen College Rodeo Team was formed about one month ago by a group of students sharing a common interest, according to club President Duane Landis.
The club, affiliated with the California Young Farmers’ Association, has set as its major goal the construction of an arena which they hope to have completed by early next year.
Members are currently involved in fundraising efforts and are receiving some assistance from the college agriculture department, said Landis. While all labor for construction of the arena will be provided by the rodeo team, they are seeking assistance from the community in the way of con- struction materials, monetary donations, ideas and suggestions, the club president said.
Donations or loans of bucking stock are also needed, he said, particularly a bucking machine for practice.
Thus far the club has raised about $145, according to Landis, who said the rodeo team is hoping to sponsor a rodeo in the planned arena by next spring.
The Lassen College Rodeo Team meets the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 6 p. m. in the college’s “L” building. Plans are now underway by the club to become affiliated with the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association.
