New Texaco Station Open For Business
November 4, 1971

The new Texaco service station constructed at the southeast corner of Main Street and the relocated Alexander Avenue by Glen Sherman, local Texaco distributor, was opened for business on Friday.

Ardell Gunderson, who operated the former Texaco station at this site, will continue operation of the new station.

The general contractor for the construction was Ernaga Construction Co. of Susanville. The station was erected by Michel & Pfëfer Co. of San Francisco.

The new station is known as the Matawan type and has six pumps and a two-bay lube room. A grand opening of the station will be held about December 1. (Advocate photo)
