Lassen Expects Voter Turnout
November 5, 1950

Big voter turnout is expected for Tuesday’s election in Lassen County.

Local interest will center on contests for justice of the peace of Honey Lake Township, and for county supervisor from District 3. J. A. Hall and Elmer Bennett, both of Susanville, are vying for justice of the peace to succeed Judge Seymour Case who is retiring from the position.
Frank Flux, Doyle rancher, and George Thayer in charge of the veterans’ post, left vacant by the death of J. H. McClelland.

Al Bangle, incumbent constable and Albert Foster are seeking the position of constable for Westwood Township.

On the state level, the big interest is in the contest between Governor Earl Warren for reelection and aspirant James Roosevelt; also between Richard Noxon, Republican, and Helen Gahagan Douglas, Democrat, for senator; and between Republican Edward Shattuck and Democrat Pat Brwon, for attorney general.

Of the eleven propositions on the ballot, opposition is keenest on No. 1, which would prohibit personal property tazes, and Proposition No. 6, which would legalize gambling.
