Flying Sportsmen Tell Adventures

Three San Rafael hunters flying in two planes to Ravendale Saturday night lost their way and had an adventure.
Two of them felt their way down at the Susanville field at dusk and were given a friendly welcome by Dave and Mary Barr, airport managers who had been out there praying for their safe landings.
The third pilot met with a sterner fate he landed at Herlong was treated with grave suspicion and asked to leave immediately. Pleading his innocence as a spy the hunter explained the danger of night flying in these parts and was allowed to stay the night. He was asked to leave before daybreak and just before dawn he took off for Ravendale.
His companions found him at Ravendale Sunday morning after a day of unsuccessful hunting they returned to San Rafael Sunday night.
The visiting pilots were Rube Henerickson and Harry Kellison landed in Susanville and Max Hamenover who came down at Herlong.
