

Improvements at Little League Field

WORK ON CONSTRUCTION of the new Susanville Little League field is progressing satisfactorily, it is reported by John Martin, league president. The field was seeded several weeks ago and the grass is beginning to grow.
Volunteers are now working on completion of the two story 20×40 ft. concrete and frame building which will house the concession stand, rest rooms, announcer’s booth and storage area. The above picture was taken of the new structure earlier this week.
Everyone who would like to assist with the work is asked to come to the field this afternoon after 5 and tomorrow and Sunday. Laying of the concrete blocks is expected to be completed on Sunday.
Claude Neely, building chairman, said many persons, individuals, businesses and organization’s had already contributed supplies and services in development of the new field and building.
Among those mentioned were Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Blessing, who have supported the Little League activities for many years, Richins Propane, Henry Sanchez, Doug Millar, John Martin, Gene Bock, Dale Palmer, Don Patterson, Chuck Pruitt, Vern Porter, Bob Moody, California-Pacific Utilities, Larry Nelson, Bill Ott, Miller Custom Works, Fay Roberts, Jerry Hemphill, Ray Harrington, Simpson and Associates, Ned Porter, Jack Kennedy and the City of Susanville.
New lights for the field which meet national Little League standards have been approved at an estimated cost of $5,000.(Advocate photo)
