Accused of Speeding: Demands Jury Trial
September 11th, 1915
Supervisor L. R. Cady of District No. 1, Susanville and J. Latourette, a contractor, resident of Sacramento, were arrested on the streets of Susanville for speeding.
Cady at first thought his arrest was a joke, as he was not making more than thirty-five or forty miles an hour, a rate of speed not unusual in Susanville, but Marshal Tom Massey soon convinced him to the contrary.
Latourette later pleaded guilty to speeding and paid his fine of $5, but Cady pleaded not guilty and demanded a jury trial. His case will be heard this week.
