LMUD Update: Chips Fire Causes System Wide Power Outage

9:15p.m. – Power should be back on to all LMUD customers at this time. If you are still experiencing outages please call the LMUD office, 257-4174.

8:00p.m. – PG and E is experiencing a string of outages from East Quincy to Chester leaving nearly 10,000 customers in the dark. The PG and E outage is affecting both Lassen Municipal Utility District and Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric.

The outages are being caused by the Chips fire, which flared up explosively this afternoon, burning through transmission lines in Caribou, north of Belden.

LMUD Energy Services Manager Theresa Phillips said, “We are working on an alternate feed, but that process could take a least six hours.”

5:49p.m. – Lassen Municipal Utility District is experiencing a system-wide power outage.

According to LMUD Energy Services Manager Theresa Phillips crews from the utility are investigating the problem.
