The National Association of Letter Carriers held its annual national food drive last Saturday, with local postal folks collecting an amazing 1,594 pounds of canned goods and non-perishable foodstuffs from area doorsteps.
“The Salvation Army will pass it on to families in need through our table food and emergency food box programs,” explains SA Field Representative Juanita Williams.
“We thank the community and the local mail carriers for their thoughtfulness and hard work.”
All donations made locally to the food drive stay right here in our community, with half of the food helping out the Salvation Army and the other half going to Crossroads Ministries.
The Stamp Out Hunger food drive, which was first held in 1983, is the country’s largest one-day food drive, providing residents with an easy way to donate food to those millions of Americans in need.
