Lassen County residents seeking food assistance have access to several local programs running throughout the month of November. As the holidays approach, these community organizations are providing meals and food distributions to help those in need.
Weekly Meals and Distributions
Monday through Wednesday, the Salvation Army provides a food table service from 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. and operates a food truck from its 1560 Main Street location. Call them at 1.530.257.0314.
On Thursdays, residents can find two additional options. The Salvation Army offers its food table again from 1:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. Additionally, the God Cares Food Pantry is open from 2:00 to 5:00p.m. at 464-90 Standish/Buntingville Rd. in Janesville; call 1.530.310.1733 for details.
Crossroads Ministries, located at 2410 Main Street, offers food distribution, breakfast, and lunch services on weekdays. Breakfast begins at 7:30a.m., lunch is served at 12:00p.m., and food distribution runs from 9:00a.m. until noon. They can be reached at 1.530.251.0701.
Crossroads also hosts a dinner service every Saturday from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m.
On Fridays, the Susanville United Methodist (HOPE) Food Pantry provides assistance from 3:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. at 635 South Cottage Street call 1.530.249.5839.

Mark your calendars for these special distribution days in November:
Thursday, November 13th: The Big Valley 50 Plus Food Distribution will be held at the Big Valley Veterans Hall (470 Bridge St., Bieber) starting at 11:30a.m. Call 1.530.292.7151.
Friday, November 14th: Look for the Salvation Army Food Truck at 1560 Main Street in Susanville from 8:00a.m. to 12:00p.m.
Friday, November 21st: The Salvation Army Food Truck will be stationed at 509-725 Stones Road, at Eagle Lake, from 1:00 to 3:00p.m.
Holiday Reminder: Please note that some services may be unavailable on Veterans Day (November 11th) and Thanksgiving (November 27th). Residents are strongly advised to call ahead and confirm operating hours during these holiday periods.
Assistance for American Indians/Alaska Natives
The Lassen Indian Health Center manages the Hoopa Food Distribution Program. This program runs during the third week of the month at 795 Joaquin Street, but registration is required. Please call 1.530.257.2542 for information on registration and distribution times.
