High school students in the Susanville area have a unique opportunity to secure funding for their education and participate in a premier leadership camp this summer. Through its membership in the Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS), Lassen Municipal Utility District is highlighting two distinct scholarship tracks now open to students residing in households served by the utility.
Summer Leadership and Scholarships for Underclassmen
Sophomores and juniors living in LMUD-served homes are invited to apply for a spot at the Idaho Consumer-Owned Utilities Association Youth Rally. This week-long leadership camp, scheduled for July 6th through the 10th, offers a blend of education and recreation, featuring team-building exercises, a tour of the Idaho Capitol Building, and a day at an Idaho waterpark.
Beyond the experience itself, every student selected to attend will receive a $500 scholarship check, with additional opportunities to earn more funding during the camp sessions. Interested students must submit a 500-word essay based on this year’s prompt by midnight on April 3rd, 2026.
$2,500 Academic Scholarships for Graduating Seniors
For local seniors preparing for the next chapter of their education, UAMPS is offering eight $2,500 scholarships to be awarded this year. This program is open to graduating seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who plan to continue their education after high school.
To be considered, applicants must submit an essay of 500 to 1,000 words discussing the future of energy and how their specific career goals will promote or advance energy sustainability. The deadline for senior scholarship applications is midnight on February 28th, 2026.
How to Apply
Because these programs are reserved for UAMPS member communities, it is essential that applicants reside in a household currently served by Lassen Municipal Utility District.
