Lorraine Langley Yarbrough
Lorraine Langley Yarbrough passed away on November 19, 2015 in Reno, Nevada with her family at her side. Lorraine was born on March 26, 1922 in Chelsea, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charles and Emma Patton Langley. The family moved to Susanville in 1924.
Lorraine attended local grammar schools and was a member of the Lassen Union High School Class of 1941. She was a member of the Lassen High Alumni Association,a charter member of the Susanville Chapter of the Women of the Moose, and a past member of the Susanville Rebekah Lodge #101.
She was married to her childhood sweetheart Elbert “Dutch” Yarbrough for 61 years. They enjoyed bowling, golf, and dancing. She was an avid reader and an excellent cook.Lorraine touched many lives with her caring, kind, generous nature and her keen sense of humor. Lorraine will always be admired and cherished by those who knew her.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Dutch, her children Vonda and Larry, her seven brothers, Lonnie, Ed, Alva “Tanko”, Elmer, Herman, Woodrow, and Lloyd, her three sisters, Josephine, Lois, and June. She is survived by her five grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Lottie Langley and Anita Langley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in the spring. Donations may be made in Lorraine’s name to the Lassen High Alumni Association, P.O. Box 471, Susanville, CA.
