Have a rockin’ good time this Friday and Saturday, June 23rd and 24th, at the annual Lassen County Chamber of Commerce Main Street Cruise. Along with the Classic Car and Motorcycle Show N’ Shine the two-day event will feature kids activities, slow drag races, derby car fun runs, a street dance, food and craft vendors and live music from that really awesome band Forgery.

On Friday the event will take place in historic uptown Susanville from 5:00 until 9:00p.m. Saturday’s activities will be held in Memorial Park from 2:00 to 7:00p.m.

According to Chamber Director Patti Hagata there is still time to sign up your classic car to participate in the show n’ shine or to reserve a vendor booth at the event; applications for the car show and vendor booths are available on the chamber’s website or you can contact the Chamber office at 257-4323.

Car enthusiasts have a chance to win prizes in over 40 categories, with all classes eligible for Best of Show and People’s Choice awards.

Admission to the event is, as always, absolutely free.

Schedule of Events

Friday

On Friday, Main Street in uptown will close to traffic at 5:00p.m., classic cars will be showcased along the street and the party begins with a ‘Classic Cars and Cocktails’ chamber Mixer at Pregill Insurance.

From 5:30 until 8:30 everyone is invited to come take part in a Soap Box Derby showcase featuring an inspection and ‘fun runs’ of cars from Saturday’s derby event.

From 5:30 to 9:00 the Motorcycle Show and Shine will be held in the parking lot at the corner of Main Street and North Roop. At the same time local rock-and-roll favorites Forgery will be playing at Pancera Plaza.

There will be motorcycle awards at 6:45, slow drag races at 7:00 and at 7:30 you can have fun with bubble gum, hula hoop, limbo, and dress-up contests. Slow Drag participants will be allowed, through controlled entry, to drive north on South Roop Street to get to the drags – which will be on the 600 block of Main Street.

Dance to live music at Lassen Ale Works from 8:45 until 11:45 and then head over to the Sierra Theatre for a free showing of the classic film American Graffiti at midnight.

Saturday

Saturday begins with the ‘Cheater’s Poker Run’ starting at Diamond Mountain Casino and visiting Eagle Lake Village, Pizza Factory in Susanville, the Eagle Lake Marina, Artisan Coffee in Janesville, Susanville Ford, Diamond Mountain Golf Course and the new Community Pool on South Street.

“Anyone can participate in the Cheater’s Poker Run,” explains Cruise organizer Susan Edwards, “and we want to encourage classic car owners, who do not want to get their cars dirty before the show Saturday afternoon, to bring their daily drivers for the poker run.”

Diamond Mountain Casino will provide a complimentary lunch with Poker Run entries.

Soap Box Derby racing will be going on all day, from 8:00a.m. until 5:00p.m. on Nevada Street.

The 25th Anniversary Main Cruise car show begins at 2:00 in Memorial Park with dozens of vintage rides spread throughout the park. There will be food and craft vendors, games and live music from Forgery. Soap Box Derby awards will be handed out at 6:00 and car show awards at 6:30.

The Lassen County Arts Council will present one of their popular Cork & Canvas workshops from 3:30 until 6:00 in the park.
