A Tuesday afternoon traffic collision on Susanville’s Main Street sent a local woman to the hospital with lacerations on her face and arms according to a report released today by the Susanville Police Department.
Officers from the department responded to the intersection of Main and Ash streets Tuesday at around 2:00p.m. after receiving several reports that two vehicles had collided and were blocking traffic.
Once on-scene officers located a white 2006 Ford Focus that had come to rest up on the sidewalk after striking a metal railing near the northwest corner of El Tepeyac Grille. Police arrived to find the driver still inside the car, which had major front-end and passenger side damage.
A blue 1997 GMC Sierra sport utility vehicle with moderate front end damage was found facing south on South Ash Street and the driver, identified by police as 19 year-old Susanville resident Julio Juarezarias, was located near his vehicle.
According to Police Lieutenant Matt Wood the department’s investigation determined that the driver of the Ford, 23 year-old Susanville resident Maria Gonzalez, was driving westbound on Main Street and attempted to make a left turn onto South Ash Street when her vehicle was struck by the GMC which was traveling eastbound on Main Street.
Gonzalez was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center by Semsa Ambulance with cuts to the face and arms.
