Manicures and Mammograms at Banner Lassen: Three Weeks Left

Banner Lassen Medical Center announces the sixth annual ‘Manicures, Massages and Mammograms’ event to recognize October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The special event will offer free manicures, free chair massages, affordable screening mammograms, free gift baskets to all who attend, educational health information and refreshments. Participants also will be entered into a free drawing for prizes.

You have three more chances to take advantage of this free event;  Friday, October 11th, Saturday, October 19th and Friday, October 25th at Banner Lassen Medical Center, 1800 Spring Ridge Drive in Susanville.

Appointments are required and may be made by calling (530) 252-2065. Women do not need a physician’s order to have a screening mammogram.

Most insurance covers the cost of the screening. Women who can’t afford the screening should ask about financial assistance programs.

The American Cancer Society recommends that women over the age of 40 have a screening mammogram done yearly. Women who have a family history of breast cancer should be screened earlier. If you have concerns about whether you should have a mammogram or how frequently, you should speak with your primary care provider.

For more information, call (530) 252-2121.

Cindy Kniss and Terri Bortle from Banner Lassen Medical Imaging department wait patiently for their next patient with manicurist Deena Waddel at last year’s event.
