Marleen Legenbauer passed away peacefully from complications of COPD in Ardmore, Oklahoma, on November 3, 2025.
Marleen moved to Susanville in 1964 with her first husband, Bob Kellenbeck, and their three children: Rieta, Daniel, and Toni. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rieta and Cecil Hill; her sister, Rara Johnson; her second husband of twenty-eight years, Walter Legenbauer; and her stepson, Barry Legenbauer.
For many years Marleen operated a beauty shop in her home, Marleen’s Wig Boutique, where she cared for a loyal circle of customers whom she loved like family.
Marleen is survived by her children, Rieta (Jeff) Ebberts, Daniel (Mercy) Kellenbeck, and Toni (Terry) Poulsen; her stepdaughter, Maureen (Greg) Zunino; twelve grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her nephew, David (Kelly) Johnson.
She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society, where she delighted in creating bedazzled crafts for their gatherings and handing out candy at the Uptown Halloween events with her Red Hat Sisters. Marleen was a bright light in her community, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family wishes to acknowledge Ken and Linda Korver, and their daughter, Portia Korver. Dr. Korver had cared for Marleen as her physician since 1965. Marleen moved to Oklahoma in June to be closer to her eldest daughter during her final months.
