Mary Jane (Tanner) Rea passed away on July 25, 2024 at the Renown Medical Center in Reno, NV at the age of 94.
Mary was a lifelong Lassen County resident who over the years enjoyed riding horses, especially on Diamond Mountain with her friends. She was extremely passionate about the family ranch in Honey Lake Valley, where she spent her lifetime working and “feuding” with neighbors and others over various issues (especially water). She absolutely hated having her picture taken. Mary was an extremely safe driver, but you did not want to get behind her on the local roads if you were in a hurry. She liked to keep her eye on what was going on in the various fields, ditches, sloughs and river.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Rea and her sisters Ardene (Tanner) Purdy and Joyce (Tanner) Cunha.
Mary is survived by her son John; daughter-in law, Naomi; grandchildren Jennifer and Daniel and greatgrandchildren Rylee and Colter.
