Beginning in 2015, and continuing in 2016, the Lassen County Board of Supervisors joined in proclaiming May as Foster Care Awareness Month in Lassen County.
Currently there are 45 Lassen County dependent and delinquent children in foster care. Likely, many of you know someone in this community who is taking care of a foster child, a grandchild, a niece or nephew, or a child of a friend. We ask you to please take a moment and thank these caregivers for their dedication to serving this countyās most vulnerable children.
If you are interested in becoming a foster parent please contact the Lassen County Child and Family Services department or the Lassen County Probation Department.
Also consider that becoming a foster parent is not the only way you can help support our foster children. Foster children and youth need to develop essential job skills, they often need educational tutors, they need mentors, Court Appointed Special Advocates and loving and comforting friends while they are separated from their homes.
On behalf of the Lassen County Probation Department and Lassen County Child and Family Services, we thank all the members of our community making a difference in our foster childrenās lives.
