Minor Injuries For Pedestrian Near Lassen High

A pedestrian on Main Street in front of Lassen High received minor injuries Monday after reportedly trying to beat the cross-walk and traffic signals across the roadway.

The Susanville Police department learned that a seventeen year-old Susanville boy, driving a White Ford Ranger, was stopped in one of the westbound lanes of Main Street waiting for a red light at the pedestrian crossing in front of the school.

According to SPD Captain Tom Downing, once the light turned green, the driver started to proceed when a sixteen year-old Susanville boy attempted to beat the traffic light and ran out in front of the vehicle from the north curb. The driver of the vehicle was unable to see the pedestrian and collided with him.

The pedestrian received minor abrasions to the left elbow and complained of right ankle pain. He was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center by SEMSA for evaluation.

Captain Downing warns that pedestrians wishing to cross Main Street are urged to use the traffic signal appropriately and to not cross the roadway when the traffic light prohibits it. “Please be cautious when crossing any roadway.”
