Join Banner Lassen Medical Center for Monday Mammograms, Mimosas and Massages as the staff celebrates National Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout October.
The best way to detect breast cancer early is through regular breast exams and screening mammograms. Banner Lassen Medical Center uses the most current technology with 3D Tomosynthesis Mammography.
3D mammography uses digital X-ray technology to capture multiple images of the entire breast from different angles to produce high-resolution, 3D images. This type of mammography provides more accurate results with fewer false positives and shortens exam times.
With the low-dose 3D mammography system, the X-ray arm sweeps in a slight arc over the breast, taking multiple images in just seconds. A good analogy for 3D mammography is like thinking of the pages in a book. Looking at the book, the internal contents of the pages can’t be seen. When opened up, a book can be leafed through, page-by-page, seeing everything between the covers.
