Students from the Susanville Symphony Society’s Academy of Music will showcase their accomplishments in a recital set for this Tuesday evening at the Methodist church in uptown Susanville.
According to Academy Director Carol Fontana the performance will feature students from the beginning band, beginning strings and intermediate strings programs.
“Our students have worked hard since classes started last October, and they are excited to show what they have accomplished,” Fontana said. “We’ll have performers ranging in age from third grade to adults. This will be an entertaining evening and the chance for the community to congratulate the students for a job well done.”
Groups will play Beethoven’s ‘Ode to Joy,’ Robert Frost’s ‘Concert Song,’ and songs from ‘William Tell.’ Also on the program are classic student pieces such as ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’ and ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.’
Teachers involved in this year’s academy include Fontana, working with beginning band and beginning strings students, and Sue and Owen Bateson, who have worked with intermediate strings.
The performance begins at 7:00p.m. in the United Methodist Church at the corner of Lassen and Cottage streets. There are no advance ticket sales and donations are encouraged at the door.
