Alan Nakanishi, Lodi City Councilman and father of local Superior Court Judge candidate Jon Nakanishi, is speaking to the media this afternoon about just what happened Sunday on the Truckee River that sent his son to the hospital, where he remains in a medically induced coma.
According to reports published this afternoon in the Lodi News and the Stockton Record, the Nakanishi family was celebrating Father’s Day with a rafting trip when the boat turned over, spilling the family into the cold water.
Alan Nakanishi told the Stockton Record that his son was able to swim to shore, “but his muscles froze and his heart reportedly stopped,” the article continues, “A brother-in-law performed CPR and revived him before he could be transported to the Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee.”
Alan Nakanishi said doctors had attempted to pull his son out of his medically induced coma Monday morning to do some observation but they could not immediately pull him out.
Alan Nakanishi is quoted as saying, ““It’s getting more serious. We are very much in pain, and just praying. We have to be positive and think he will come out of it.”
“We are hopeful and we are praying for a quick recovery,” he said.
