Nancy West, surrounded by her family and friends, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital in Reno, Nevada on Friday, January 27, 2023, at the age of 76.

Nancy was born on November 22, 1946, in Herlong, California, the first born child of Joseph and Wilma Roberts. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George West, the love of her life, and two sons, Michael and Stephen Andrew. She is survived by her sister, Laura Roberts, her daughters, Michelle, Jennifer, and Kimberly, grand children Michael Kyle, Lisa, Christina, JD and Carlene, great granddaughter Shyla, and her loyal pup Amy.

Nancy loved growing up in Herlong for the first few years of her life. The family later moved to the small town of Milford. This is where she began her love of nature and the outdoors. Hiking in the mountains, riding horses, 4-H, and raising beef were a big part of her country life.

Nancy graduated from Lassen High School in the class of 1963. She enrolled in Chico State College but later returned home to marry George West on April 2, 1968. George was in the military and they moved across the country from time to time with their St. Bernard dog and cat in the back seat and an ironing board tied on top of the VW. That car gave their family many memories.

George and Nancy bought their forever home in Janesville. They built their farm with goats, chickens, bunnies, cows, dogs, cats, and kids. Nancy loved her career as a florist. She worked for the Annand family at Milwood Florist. She loved to create and design. She was an artist of water color, quilting, painting George’s creations, and any other project that took her interest.

In addition to her artistry, she shared her varied talents as a 4-H leader and mentor to many. Nancy was a friend to all, lent an ear to listen, and was a phenomenal helper. To many of her friends, she was a savior. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on February 3, 2023, at the Milford Community Center.
