Here is a quick update from the forecasters at the National Weather Service. The office has issued a Winter Weather Advisory which will be in effect until 5:00p.m. today for elevations above 5,500 feet.

According to forecasters at the Reno NWS office, snow will begin this morning and continue into this afternoon. The heaviest snow is expected to fall before 2:00p.m. today
Snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches are expected above 5,500 feet west of Highway 395 in Lassen and Plumas counties.
The snow level will remain above 5000 feet for the duration of this storm system.
Above 5,500 feet heavy snowfall will create hazardous driving conditions with the greatest impacts over the mountain passes including Fredonyer Pass.
The National Weather Service is suggesting that motorists avoid travel until the snow ends and roads have been treated. If you must travel drive slowly and allow extra time to reach your destination.
