A new scholarship, the Need to Succeed Nursing Scholarship, has been established to support Registered Nursing students at Lassen Community College. The scholarship, a collaboration between the Lassen College Foundation and the Vogt-Morentz Charitable Fund, offers a total of $1,500 to help future healthcare professionals with their education.
Empowering Future Nurses in Northern California
The new scholarship is specifically designed to meet the growing need for skilled nurses in the region.
According to Christi Myers, the Program Director of Lassen’s RN program, the college’s program was created to address the “escalating demand for registered nurses, both locally and across the state.”
The goal is to provide rigorous training to produce “highly skilled and compassionate professionals.” This initiative aligns with a shared mission to empower students and strengthen rural healthcare throughout Northern California.
Who Can Apply?
The scholarship is open to all students enrolled in the Registered Nursing program at Lassen Community College. While all students are encouraged to apply, priority consideration will be given to underserved students who plan to work in Lassen or Shasta County.
This includes students who are currently in or have previously been in the foster care system. This targeted approach aims to support those who are most likely to remain and contribute to the local healthcare community.
Interested students can find more information and apply for the scholarship on the Lassen Community College website. The new scholarship is a significant step toward supporting the next generation of healthcare heroes and ensuring a strong healthcare landscape for the community.
