The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office is growing its ranks this week following the graduation of four students from the Adult Corrections Core Course at Lassen Community College.

On Thursday, March 26th, Thomas Montoya, Ethan Shockley, Anthony Sanchez, and Dylan McGarva officially completed the intensive training program. Following the ceremony, Sheriff John McGarva formally swore in Montoya, Shockley, and Sanchez as the newest Correctional Deputies for Lassen County.

Rigorous Training for Modern Corrections
The Adult Corrections Core Course is a vital requirement for all new Correctional Deputies within their first year of employment. The curriculum is designed to prepare deputies for the complex environment of modern correctional facilities, ensuring they possess the specialized skills necessary for public safety and inmate welfare.

During the course, the graduates received comprehensive instruction in several key areas, including Operational Procedures, Current Law, Medical and Mental Health and Defensive Tactics.

A Community Partnership
Sheriff McGarva expressed his pride in the graduates and extended his gratitude to the local educators who made the training possible.

“The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate Deputies Montoya, Shockley, Sanchez, and McGarva on their graduation,” stated Sheriff McGarva. “We would also like to thank the instructors and staff at Lassen College for facilitating this course for our deputies.”
