Another phone scam is targeting customers of Lassen Municipal Utility District according to the utility’s Energy Services Manager, Theresa Phillips.
“There are reports of an unknown person calling LMUD customers demanding payment for past due bills and threatening disconnection,” explains Phillips, “If you receive a suspicious call demanding payment it is a scam!”
LMUD is asking anyone who was contacted and believes it was part of this scam to give their office a call immediately at 257-4174.
Phillips also reminded customers to never make a payment to anyone that cannot positively identify themselves as an LMUD employee.
