A new memorial award has been established to honor the memory of Brittany Painter, a beloved member of the local community who passed away unexpectedly earlier this year. The Brittany Painter Legacy Memorial Award will recognize and support youth and volunteers who display exceptional service, dedication, and leadership within the Lassen County livestock community.
The award is designed to celebrate individuals whose actions, character, and commitment to others leave a lasting impact—continuing the very values that were so important to Painter.
“The Brittany Painter Legacy Memorial Award was created in honor of Brittany to recognize and support youth and volunteers involved in agriculture, livestock showing and the Lassen County fair community,” said award organizer and Brittany’s sister, Breanna Chavez. “The memorial was established to continue the values that were important to her—hard work, leadership, sportsmanship, kindness, and dedication to helping others.”
“For those who had the opportunity to know my sister, Brittany Painter, you know how much she loved being part of the Lassen County livestock community—and how deeply she believed in the future of agriculture,” Chavez shared.
“Brittany loved showing and working at LCF. She had a strong passion for agriculture and the relationships and opportunities that came through the fair community. Through this memorial, our family hopes to continue encouraging youth and volunteer involvement while honoring her legacy in a meaningful way.”
Each year, a selected recipient will be honored with a beautiful memorial belt buckle and a cash award in Brittany’s memory.
Award and Nomination Details:
Eligible nominees include 4-H Members, FFA Members, Independent Showmen and Volunteers within the Lassen County Livestock Community.
Nominations must be submitted by the Thursday of the fair, July 16th, and the recipient will be announced and honored during Sunday’s Livestock Auction on July 19th.
“It means so much to be able to honor her in this way and give back to a community that gave her so much,” Chavez added. “If you know someone who embodies these qualities, we invite you to nominate them.”
To submit a nomination for someone who demonstrates these outstanding qualities, fill out the online form here: Brittany Painter Legacy Memorial Nomination Form.
