The National Weather Service office in Reno is warning residents here in Lassen County, as well as areas of eastern Plumas and eastern Sierra counties to prepare for heavy snow and difficult travel this weekend.
Saying that heavy snow is possible, forecasters have issued a winter storm watch from Friday evening through Saturday evening. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches are expected throughout the region, with 4 to 14 inches west of Highway 395.
Travel throughout Lassen, Plumas and Sierra Counties from late Friday until Sunday could be very difficult.
Now is the time to prepare an emergency kit for your home and car. If traveling consider alternate plans, remember to carry tire chains, extra food, water and clothing. Once the storm arrives, travel may be difficult or impossible for an extended period of time.
