NWS Weather Bulletin: Strong Damaging Winds Forecast for Sunday

Forecasters at the National Weather Service’s office in Reno have issued a High Wind Warning in effect from 4:00 Sunday morning until 10:00 Sunday night.

Winds will increase tonight, becoming strong and gusty Sunday morning through Sunday evening.

Winds are expected to be south to southwest at 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 60 to 70 mph. Wind prone areas along and east of Highway 395 between Susanville and the Nevada border may see gusts up to 80 mph.

Strong cross winds and travel restrictions are likely to impact high profile vehicles especially along Highway 395. Localized damage to trees and fences may occur along with possible power outages.
