A Winter Storm Warning will remain in effect until early Monday morning with forecasters expecting up to a foot of snow in the mountains west of Susanville over the next 18-hours.
Heavy snow is expected above 5,000 feet with accumulations of up to 4 inches in western Nevada and northeast California. Between 6 and 12 inches is forecast above 5,000 feet west of Highway 395 and 12 to 24 inches is possible for the Yuba Pass area.
Travel will be very difficult, especially along Highway 89 and portions of highway 36 and 44 west of Susanville.
Avoid travel if possible, you could be stuck in your vehicle for many hours. If you must travel, prepare for long delays and carry an emergency kit with extra food, water and clothing. If you stay home, have a backup plan in case of power outages.
