NWS Weather Bulletin: Winter Weather Advisory Monday and Tuesday

The National Weather Service’s office in Reno is warning residents in our area to prepare for several inches of snow on the valley floor between 10:00a.m. Monday and 7:00p.m. Tuesday.

The Winter Storm Watch has been upgraded to a Winter Weather Advisory with total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, with up to 6 inches expected above 5,500 feet. The highest totals will be west of Highway 395 and north of Susanville. Winds will be gusting as high as 45 mph.

According to forecasters, snow levels in Lassen, eastern Plumas and eastern Sierra counties will start around 5,500 to 6,000 feet Monday afternoon, rapidly falling behind a cold front to below 5,000 feet Monday evening. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
