Darren ‘Lacy’ Gentry
Lacy lost his battle with cancer on July 12th, 2013. He passed away peacefully with his wife at his side.
Lacy was born on November 7th, 1962 to James ‘Sonny’ and Sharon Gentry in Garberville, CA. At the age of 7 he and his family moved to Litchfield, CA.
Lacy’s love was to work on cars. Anyone who knew him would always ask him for help and mechanical advice. Lacy could fix anything and get it running again.
Lacy enjoyed going to Alturas to spend time with his wife’s family. He always said it was peaceful there. Their dream was to move to Alturas and live on his wife’s family homestead.
Lacy worked for Lassen Union High School District for over 20 years as a mechanic. He had pride in working hard on keeping the school buses running, rain, snow or shine.
Lacy was preceded in death by his father James ‘Sonny’. He is survived by his wife Deena of Susanville, mother Sharon Gentry and Harlan Hedrick of Westwood, CA, brothers, John Clark of Susanville, CA and Harold Clark of Rio Linda, CA, sons James Gentry of Winnemucca, NV, Mike Gentry of Cedarville, CA, Jason Quinn of Colorado Springs, Co, Christopher Gentry of Whitewater, WI and daughter Alyssa Gentry of Susanville, CA. His survivors also include five grandchildren, Zachary, Austin, Noah, Maggie and Austin.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m on July 23rd, 2013 at the Diamond Crest Cemetery in Johnstonville. A celebration to follow at Lassen High School Student Center.
