Obituaries: Fred Richard Schultz – June 27th, 2013

Fred Richard Schultz, 82, passed away peacefully at Renown Hospital with his family by his bedside on Thursday, June 27th, 2013.

Burial services will be held at Diamond Crest Cemetery with full military honors on July 13th, 2013 at 10am followed immediately by a celebration of live at the home of Richard and Gail Schultz.

Fred was born on July 15, 1931 in Benton, Ill. He served his country during the Korean War and attained the rank of S.SGT in the Air Force. He received his pilot license at the age of 16 but was flying at the tender age of 14. He loved flying and flew every plane he could get his hands on. He worked on the Hanover Project after the service and also worked at Aerojet in the space industry. He later went to work for SMUD and was in charge of their hydroelectric plants in the Lake Tahoe area where he later retired. He traveled extensively through the US and Canada on motorcycles which was also of love of his. He bought his last Harley at the age of 81. He was a member of the American Legion and ELKS. He loved life and lived it to it fullest.

He is preceded in death by his mother Carrie Stripling Schultz, father Fred John Schultz, and his sister Betty Lou Schultz Bristow. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia Ann Gleason Schultz, son Richard Neil Schultz (Gail), and daughter Susan Lynn Schultz McBride (Richard). Grandchildren Christopher David Beaver, Dustin Neil Schultz(Tanya) and Karlee Ann Beaver. Step grandchildren Julia Lynn Bametche (Bernard) and Kathryn Ruth Gussett. And Great Grandchildren Jayden Daniel Johnson, Brendan Neil Schultz and Kenzie Jean Schultz.

He was a great man and will be sorely missed. Until we meet again Dad!
